The Cement Production Process.. in a nut.

We live in a concrete world. For along time now concrete has been the most common material used in construction. Cement is merely the binding agent enabling the formation of concrete. There are several different types of cement, the most common of which is the bog standard Portland cement (OPC). It's a grey powder obtained from grinding cement clinker. Clinker is a bulky material with a low value to weight ratio. This makes it really expensive to transport over long distances. To minimise transport costs most cement plants are located close to the source of raw materials.
